Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003

This is the Act which in 2003 replaced the Medical Practitioners Act 1995. It was extended to cover many health practitioner activities other than medical ones. In its bill stage, Dr Wislang made submissions to the Select Committee on Health of the New Zealand Parliament in which he pressed for the Act to require each health practitioner's regulatory body under it to be required to make regulations for the specification of the means of establishing standards, procedures, for determining and the assessment criteria, of competence.

In June 2002, Dr Wislang made similar representations to the Court of Appeal of New Zealand in his submissions for leave to the Privy Council.
